One of the great things about living in our Chicago apartment community is our Friday night movies. At River North Park, we have a beautifully landscaped 1/2 acre courtyard, and our residents love to take advantage of it. On Friday, August 18, we’ll be hosting a screening of the classic film, Top Gun, right in the middle of the courtyard. Clear your schedule and plan to make a night of it, bonding with your neighbors and watching this unforgettable film.
ALL ABOUT TOP GUN
Part adventure tale and part love story, Top Gun is a classic 1986 film starring Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Kelly McGillis, as the obligatory love interest. It’s about the students in the Navy’s elite fighter pilot school, known as Top Gun. These students compete to be the best in the class, playing dangerous games while testing themselves high in the sky. One pilot, Maverick (Cruise), learns more than he expected from one of the instructors, played by Kelly McGillis. Watch for spectacular stunt pilot work, Tom Cruise on a motorcycle that’s bigger than he is, an iconic beach volleyball tournament and one of the first movies in McGillis’ short but sparkling career.

Get into the spirit and wear your best Top Gun outfit. Rock those aviator shades or tease up that 80’s hair. There’s nothing serious about this movie; it’s just pure fun. This film oozes testosterone while trying to be a fun date movie. It’s camp at its best and you’ll love every minute of it. Bring comfortable folding chairs and blankets in case the air gets chilly. Make some popcorn and pack your cooler with your favorite beverage. This party is a great way to get to know a new neighbor, or to have fun with the ones you already know.
